Heat recovery for Moulsham’s swimming pool hall
Hoval has supplied two RoofVent units to provide heating and ventilation with heat recovery for the swimming pool hall at Moulsham High School.
Specified by Archer Building Consultancy, the new RoofVent LHW units have replaced the older Hoval RoofVent units that had been operating since the 1990s.
The installation was carried out by Colchester based SES Mechanical Services Ltd working in conjunction with their sub-contractor MFD Ductwork Installations Ltd. The project involved removing the older units and lifting the new RoofVent units into place by crane.

“We involved Hoval very early on project and their input played a key role in the smooth delivery of the project,” recalled MFD’s Barrie Mortimer. “As well as carrying out an initial site survey and supporting us throughout the project, they also commissioned the units and provided training to school staff on how to control the units to achieve optimum performance,” he added.
The RoofVent units will be running almost constantly to prevent condensation on the walls of the hall, using Hoval’s patented vortex air distributor to minimise air flow rates, and therefore energy consumption, whilst ensuring efficient ventilation. A demand-led ventilation control strategy will ensure that the performance of the RoofVent units is aligned to the changing ventilation requirements of the hall.
Additional energy savings are achieved by the RoofVent’s high efficiency heat exchanger, which provides up to 84% heat recovery.
