Hoval invests 400,000 euros in photovoltaic installation
July 11, 2024, Marchtrenk. Indoor climate specialist Hoval has recently commissioned a new photovoltaic installation on the roof of its logistics center in Marchtrenk.
Independent Implementation
Hoval implemented the project mainly on its own. Only the roof construction was undertaken by M. Reifetshammer GmbH from Wels. "We had to provide and connect detached profiles on the existing dome or arched roof.
Facility Manager and Project Manager Herbert Sterner explains the preparation process and is satisfied with the good cooperation with Reifetshammer GmbH.

The photovoltaic components have a total power of almost 400 kilowatts peak and were purchased by Hoval through a wholesaler, with installation and wiring carried out by its own employees. An expert was also hired for static calculations.
High Self-consumption Proportion
To maximize the economic viability of the photovoltaic system, the focus was on achieving as high a self-consumption proportion as possible.
"Herbert Sterner said: 'We use about 90% of the electricity ourselves, and feed the remaining 10% into the public grid. This significantly reduces our energy consumption and provides us with a high level of supply security.

The Past as the Foundation for a Green Future
In recent years, Hoval has reduced its total energy consumption by about 50% through a variety of measures. This was mainly achieved through CO2 savings in the field of mobility and the renovation of the Marchtrenk company building's roof.
Christian Hofer emphasizes: "Our ongoing efforts to reduce energy consumption and use renewable energies show that we are taking responsibility. Sustainability is not a trend for us, but an integral part of our corporate culture." Energy efficiency and climate protection will continue to be core themes as the company strives to further reduce its ecological footprint.
